Terms of Service

By creating an account or using ActSci^AI (the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These terms constitute a binding agreement between you and RAK Technologies (Pty) Ltd ("ActSci", "we", "us").

ActSci is a specialised exam preparation platform built for South African actuarial examinations. The Platform provides:

• Practice questions aligned with actuarial examination syllabi
• Automated feedback on written answers, generated by language models trained and constrained on actuarial content
• A subject-matter study assistant for concept explanation and exam question generation
• Progress tracking, performance analytics, and readiness scoring
• Structured study notes and topic-level coverage

Important: ActSci is an independent study tool. Automated marks and feedback are indicative only and do not constitute official examination results or endorsement by any professional actuarial body.

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms.

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access at info@raktechnologies.co.za.
• One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits is prohibited.

• Access to full Platform features requires a paid subscription, billed per the plan selected at checkout:

• New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with full feature access. No payment is required to start the trial.
• Payment is made via EFT (electronic funds transfer) to our South African bank account. Access is activated once payment is manually verified, typically within 1–2 business days.
• Subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other applicable South African law.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. Pricing changes do not apply to active subscription periods already paid for.

To ensure fair access and manage service capacity, the Platform applies daily usage limits per account:

• Live answer feedback: 30 submissions per day
• Study assistant messages: 20 messages per day
• Final marking submissions: 5 per day

Limits reset at midnight (SAST). We reserve the right to adjust these limits. Attempting to circumvent limits through automation or multiple accounts will result in immediate account suspension.

• ActSci is an independent educational platform. Any references to actuarial syllabus topics, examination styles, or command verbs are used solely for educational compatibility. Official examinations, past papers, trademarks, and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners. ActSci has no affiliation with any actuarial professional body.
• The ActSci platform, design, codebase, system architecture, model configurations, and question content are the intellectual property of RAK Technologies (Pty) Ltd.
• Your written answers remain your intellectual property. By submitting answers to the Platform, you grant us a limited licence to process them for the purpose of generating feedback on your behalf.
• You may not copy, scrape, reproduce, or redistribute any portion of the Platform without written permission.

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract model prompts or system architecture
• Share login credentials with others
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Platform
• Upload or submit content that is defamatory, offensive, or infringing
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data or the underlying infrastructure

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY SOUTH AFRICAN LAW, ACTSCI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Automated feedback, marks, and explanations are generated by language models and may contain errors. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any automatically generated content. Users are encouraged to verify feedback against official study materials.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RAK Technologies (Pty) Ltd's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the total amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim. We shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for material breach of these terms, with immediate effect. You may close your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon termination, your access to the Platform ceases and your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy retention schedule.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg, without prejudice to your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act.

We may modify these terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide 14 days' notice by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
